Fraser Island Apple..or (Acronychia imperforata)

I can grow it, but honestly, I struggle to say it!! (Insert the tongue poking out emoji!)…I’m sure most of you can sympathise. Its super fun once you get the pronunciation right, but until then, I sound like I’m trying to speak some form of Gaelic cross French, waaaay to much spitting and hucking. Anyway, the name doesn’t matter when you are this beautiful. Lush green leaves, little quaint fruit, she is compact, forever green, and adds a big punch to any garden. This stunning tree has definately grown in popularity over the years. Landscape designers are choosing to use the Fraser Island Apple tree as an alternative to the lilly pilly for creating a hedge with a difference. They are also used as feature trees, especially against a fence or at an entrance. They prefer well drained soil and are very tolerant to sea spray, making them a very versatile tree.

Key features:

Bird attracting evergreen. Yellow clusters of flowers that turn into a small fruit.

Sub-tropical tree, tolerating full sun to partial shade. Small to medium sized. Perfect for residential and acreage sized gardens.

Grown here at Gilldora Grove Nursery in 45L bags.
